Z
I'm sure that all of you are mildly interested in knowing dying to know what this new section is all about. This is the purpose of this post – to provide you with answers. Should something stay unclear, feel free to ask in this topic. What's a Let's Play? A Let's Play is either a video or a screenshot walk-though with commentary. Depending on the type of Let's Play, the commentary can either be humorous, neutral, or even dramatic. A Let's Play allows its hosts to poke fun at some games, show other people the best or the worst way of getting through it, or in some cases, even touch the the realms of fan-fiction. LPs allow their hosts introduce their viewers games which many of them would not have even heard of, or just put a new spin on old, well-known classics. This sub-forum is dedicated to host LPs of visual novels. What are visual novels? They're essentially the digital version of "choose your own adventure books", with backgrounds, character sprites, animations, music, sound effects and sometimes even voices and pictures, depicting whole scenes. While there will often be branching storylines and multiple endings, you must remember that not all visual novels have them; some don't have any interaction at all. If a VN has choices, you can probably assume that the host of the LP is going to allow his viewers to control vote for what they want to do. There might also be other forms of interactivity for his viewers that the host of the LP might think of. Where's the commentary in these threads? Since this section is only for LPs of visual novels, which already have a ton of text on their own, it's not required to add your commentary. Can I start a new Let's Play in this section? As long as it's a visual novel, absolutely! Whether it will be interactive or not, have commentary or not and all of the other technicalities will be for you to decide on your own. Your Let's Play thread – your rules. How are you recording videos of the VNs? Both Diab and I are using a screen-capturing program, called Camtasia Recorder to record our screen, while the VN is set on auto-play. Then we use Camtasia Studio to edit and render it.
