I was Considering doing FF5 because of the 20th year anniversary but I just played through that a few weeks ago. FAQs: Q: What if I didnt pllay Final Fantasy 1 or 2? Will I miss out on some storyline or something? A: Nope. Each Final Fantasy game has it's own story and own world. There is no story-lines interconnecting between each game (with the exception of direct sequels like 10-2 and 13-2). Q: Yuck Final Fantasy? you mean that series full of Anime nerds? brooding emo-ness? sci-fi Steampunk garbage? and horrible time plots? A: Nope, not this one. Final Fantasy 3 is very D&D like compared to the steampunk/sci-fi environments of the later games. Back then, the Final Fantasy series was more "Fantasy" and not "Science-Fiction". Final Fantasy 3 isn't really anime like if you look at it objectively. And there is virtually no emoness. And no, there is no time plot in this game. Q: So whats the difference between the NES version? and the Remake version? A: There is alot: The remake version is a 3D game (note: 3D doesn't mean the pop-out/glasses kind).The names of Items, Spells, Weapons/Armor, Certain Characters names are slightly different (example: Dorga and Doga). You will get a more refined/correct translation in the DS version. The NES version might have a few obvious mistakes like calling Pirates as Vikings. It is easy to just correct it in your head.Rather than the NES's party members as 4 nearly identical slates, the remake version turns each party member one into their own character. Sadly they are very poorly developed and it doesn't really add much.The soundtrack differences are much superior on the NES, at least to me. They changed the scary and dark theme themes into cooky/goofy and unfitting themes.Character appearances are changed to look more anime-like, kinda takes a bit away from the D&D feelThere is an extra Dungeon in the DS version at the end, nothing too special.the NES version is significantly harder, much, much harder.Last Boss moveset is changed, given new moves and made easier. Notes:I will be doing some random encounters off-screen to shorten the video and they aren't really important.Somethings I might do off-screen but Ill give an annotation as to what.This is the hardest FF game. garfieldisntfat Posted December 16, 2012 Report Share Posted December 16, 2012 I couldn't finish this ever. It gets ridiculously hard and grindy towards the end, so I just dropped it. Amazing Final Fantasy game though, as pretty much every other under 10. Link to comment
