So this one was made from 3 photos of mine. I had to do a lot of digging to find an animal in my collection. Originally I wanted to use this beautiful photo of a swan I snapped when I was visiting Dublin a few years ago, but unfortunately it just didn't work with the size of a sig. Then I found this photo of a red panda I took while visiting the Roger Williams Zoo in Rhode Island. This little cutie was laying on some man made wooden structure. So I did some more digging and found a mossy tree to replace the pressure treated wood he was laying on and a new mossy rock for the background. Then I threw in some floating embers because he is a little firefox and adjusted the lighting to give it a slight fantasy vibe. I omitted my usual Darman watermark because I just couldn't land on a good fit for any text in the chill little environment that I created.

My mum took the photo back in 2007 whilst we were visiting a zoo close to home so credit to MummyTyler for the subject matter! ❤️

Artist's Note:

Spoiler

If you're not a master photographer like Darman, you rely on image selection to get you where you need to go.  This is a common hawk that nests in my neighbourhood, eats squirrels, mice, small birds, and raises young.  So it was one of the first animals that occurred to me!  Its red breast and wing feathers, and prominent black-and-white striping make it striking against any background.  The choice of this soaring picture dictated an all-sky background, and a 25% boost to saturation brings out the red and makes a nice contrast with the blue sky.  I chose wispy clouds rather than cumulus clouds in order not to distract from the hawk.  The borders and text use simple foreground-to-transparent gradients.  I left the upper right and lower left corners untouched because they have the strongest blue and white in the background.  The typeface is Queen of Camelot, a nice, bold, modern font.  I chose fading transparent white to blend with the clouds and sky.  Thanks to Clear Insanity and Darman for their feedback, and to Rose for leaving the contest open while I finished!
