Helena Revan
Artist's Note: Spoiler At first I didn't know who to choose as a "favourite" artist—there are just so many I like! I thought of Leonardo da Vinci, but he seemed like someone other people might pick. I also love the impressionists, so maybe Monet, or Van Gogh? Or maybe a print maker like Hokusai or Gustave Baumann, or a poster artist like Alphonse Mucha? Anyway, I wanted to stretch and do something I didn't think anyone else would choose. I've always liked Mondrians, so I decided to make a signature in the style of Piet Mondrian! Mondrian actually painted in many styles throughout his career, but he's most famous for abstract art following the ideas of "neoplasticism", where he painted canvases consisting of straight lines and primary colours, as above. Sometimes the lines are uniform, other times they vary in width, and the amount of colour varies from canvas to canvas. I like colour, so I used a fair amount. The big red section at top right is inspired by Composition II in Red, Blue, and Yellow (1930). I decided to use a canvas texture for the background, so you could tell it was meant to be a painting. The title is based on the last style that Mondrian painted in, where the colour was in the lines themselves, and in particular this painting, Broadway Boogie Woogie (1942). I used a slightly darker yellow to show up against the white background. 3 1 Link to comment
Yakoshi
Creators note: I chose 50 cent aka Curtis Jackson, this photo shows the duality of man, and Curtis. From the streets of Brooklyn, hustling and living a life of a crime, to going legit by pursuing what he loved, music.. building off that and being successful and going legit making movies tv and more. His own man, not just his mistakes. 2 1 Link to comment
