The Master Trials (old)
Introduction |
The highest achievement that (JAWA) Members can attain by developing their Jedi skills is the Master rank. Until 2015, our clan had two skill-based ranks, those of Elite and Master. Those have now been merged, and instead of passing two out of three or three out of five trials, those seeking the Master rank must pass four separate trials, administered by those who have been trained and certified as Trial Masters by the (JAWA) Council. Each trial will vary in terms of its content and the standards required in order to pass. Trials may include tests of many different skills, including lightsaber combat, combat with ranged weapons, unarmed combat, various exercises in teamwork, ingenuity, athletic prowess, and general knowledge of the clan, its history, and the Force. Trialists will not know in advance what skills or knowledge will be required of them, and should not expect trials to be limited to the skills, abilities, or knowledge with which they are most familiar. The number of Trial Masters is not fixed, but may include anyone who has the requisite level of training and judgment in the administration of trials. Trial Masters are not required to have attained the Elite or Master ranks themselves, but are chosen based on their knowledge and experience. Different Trial Masters may be assigned to specific trials based on their availability and interest. Trialists are not given the opportunity to choose the Trial Masters who will administer their trials. |

Trial Procedures |
Those seeking to attain the Master rank must have successfully completed all of The Cyan Trials. Trialists are permitted to apply for the trials three months after successfully completing the Guardian trial. Once an application has been submitted, the Trial Masters will assign the masters responsible for a trial, and attempt to schedule the four trials. Trialists are not required to schedule all four trials at once, or in any particular order, but must wait at least one week between trials. The results of each trial will not be announced at the end of the trial, but will be released after the other Trial Masters have had the opportunity to review the trial report and comment on it. Trialists will be notified of the results at that time, and trials passed will be noted on the trialist's WikiJawa profile. Trialists must pass all four trials in order to earn the Master rank. If a trialist fails one of the trials, he or she may apply to retake a similar trial from the same Trial Master (depending on availability), a minimum of one month after failing the trial. When all four trials have been successfully completed, a special ceremony will be scheduled for the bestowing of the Master rank. |
About the Trial Masters |
Amongst the greatest honours accorded to members of the (JAWA) Clan are the ranks of Elite and Master. Anyone seeking these ranks must demonstrate both great skill and great commitment to the clan. Since the rebirth of the (JAWA) Clan in 2006, these members have had to undergo a series of Elite Trials, administered by members of the (JAWA) Council, whose own skills and knowledge of the game qualify them to stand as judges for those who desire to prove their ability. At the beginning of 2006, the Elite rank was called Master, and applicants had to face all members of the council. However, in February the council appointed three Trial Masters to oversee and simplify the process. The first Trial Masters were HI, Shinobi, and Chrono. Since then, the rank of Master was renamed Elite, and Master reconstituted as a separate rank above that of Disciple. In June, 2007, the trials were administered by four masters. The following month, the clan briefly experimented with a system in which all council members administered trials. However, by the end of July, the council decided to revert to the Trial Master system. The following members have served as Trial Masters since 2006. Those marked with asterisks (*) also held the ranks of Elite or Master during their time in the clan. |
